In our rural and remote area of Renfrew County, a significant portion of our society deal with isolationism and financial stress everyday.  This often leads to feelings of helplessness which can lead to a cycle of destructive behaviour involving substance abuse, domestic violence and in the extreme, self-harm or suicide.  Counselling can mitigate this destructive cycle.  Unfortunately for many, psychotherapy is not available due to lack of transportation, no internet connectivity for video counselling or no funds to pay for counselling.  Psychotherapy in not covered by government healthcare and the cost is out of the reach of many without insurance.

Since April 2022, with seed money provided by Cooperators Insurance (Rob Webster) in Eganviile and funds provided by Eganville Rotary and unsolicited donations from the public, psychotherapy is being provided at a low/no cost fee for needy people.  Donations are needed!  We need to keep the program going while a public awareness campaign of this mental health crisis is undertaken.   Universal government sponsored mental healthcare is the end game.
