about

Our Mission

The Rotary Club of Lincoln Foundation Inc. raises funds for charitable purposes, particularly in support of children and youth under 18 years in Canada and South Africa.

In accordance with its Charitable Objects, the Foundation carries out two sets of activities:

1) Those relating to charities in Canada serving children and youth through education, health care, and/or relief of poverty

2) Those relating to its association with Khazimula Children’s Project, Lidgetton, South Africa, providing shelter, food, education, training, health care and/or other basic necessities to African children orphaned by AIDS or otherwise abandoned.

About ROTARY CLUB OF LINCOLN FOUNDATION INC.

1) The Foundation directs its financial support to youth-oriented Canadian organizations that are broad-based and inclusive; provide services aligned with the Foundation’s stated charitable purposes; operate to benefit children and youth who live in the Niagara Region.

In recent years, the Foundation has contributed to the following organizations:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of North & West Niagara
  • Cave Springs Camp
  • Community Care of West Niagara
  • Convos Youth Zone
  • The FORT (Foundation of Resources for Teens)
  • Upper Deck Youth Centre - Lincoln
  • Village of Hope

2) Since 2016 the Foundation has continued its annual financial support for Khazimula Children’s Project. Khazimula” means “striving to shine”. It is home to 30 vulnerable children between the ages of 6 and 18 years. The children have been orphaned, abandoned, abused, or removed from their families due to extreme poverty. At Khazimula, they have the chance to live as children again – confident of the love and interest of their caregivers, their next meal and their own warm, safe beds. The children attend local schools and have regular responsibilities with the gardening, cooking, laundry and other household chores.

Khazimula Children’s Project was established in 2006. The current home opened its doors in 2007 in a renovated school atop a hill in Lidgetton - a town near Howick in uMngeni Municipality in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal (known as KZN or Natal).
