We need to boost up the principle amount in our Continuation Flying* Training Awards (CFTA) bank account! Members of the RCAF Association have contributed approximately $250,000 to an account managed by the Air Cadet League, from which the League annually draws only on the interest earned, to fund up to a maximum of three $2,500 bursaries for eligible high-performing air cadets. For many years interest from this account funded up to twenty-five $300 awards. However, economic circumstances (inflation, etc...) rendered such awards less and less effective, hence why three awards of higher value are now presented annually. Since 2009, interest rates have been punishingly low, effectively preventing the League from being able to draw on the interest to fund more than one or two awards. We hope to solve this challenge by increasing the principle in the account. Please help us "aim high", to try and reach $300,000 as a minimum. *= bursaries presented to deserving cadets no longer are restricted to flying lessons or continuation flying training. Any post-secondary path of studies related to a civilian or military aerospace career, including the study of economics, history, sociology, politics, etc...as these subjects apply to such a career are equally eligible for consideration for these important bursaries.
