The Regent Park Children’s Foundation was established in 1997 to address gaps in students’ educational and emotional support. Funding cuts to school boards have strained resources, reducing programs that support underserved communities and making our work more critical than ever.

The foundation's core initiative is the art therapy program which enables students to express their emotions through visual art. We currently fund two art therapists who serve two Toronto District Public Schools. This program provides a vital outlet for self-expression, helping children process emotions, build self-esteem, and develop coping skills. Research shows that art therapy reduces stress, improves emotional regulation, and enhances social skills—contributing to stronger academic performance and overall well-being.

Looking ahead, we aim to partner with more schools in need and expand programs that enhance students’ educational experiences. We are also committed to further investing in our art and play therapy programs, which have been highly effective in helping children in underserved communities navigate complex emotions.
