We are firm believers in Protecting what we love, for us that is the Ocean.  Our lifelong relationship with the Ocean has opened our eyes to the very real impact humans are having on the ecology of our coasts.  Realizing that passively using the marine environment for our pleasure was no longer an option we decided to give back while we are out in our element.

  Formed in 2017, Rugged Coast Research Society is comprised of marine industry professionals, marine biologists and entrepreneurs working together to research the impacts of marine debris and restore the most remote areas of BC's West Coast. Partnering and sharing our data with stakeholders, we are committed to collaboratively working to better the marine environment we all depend on.

  Our mapping projects have highlighted high accumulation areas needing the most attention, we have surveyed approximately 650km of shoreline in the remote areas of BC's West Coast.

  Our remote clean-up efforts have removed 20+ tons of marine debris from places not seen by many humans.  We are in the beginning stages of efforts to use our findings int he field to collaborate and find root cause solutions to prevent the debris from entering the water in the first place.

  Our education and community outreach programs are beginning to take hold, we are seeing many volunteers and peers interested in taking action with us, or in their unique natural playgrounds, Ocean and beyond.

  Our mission is to transform the face of environmental activism on a global scale by integrating advocacy into the lives of those who engage with the planet's wild habitats.  Achieved through inspiring local and grassroots initiatives through in-the-field action and positive collaboration.
