The festival draws its name and early inspiration from the creative legacy rooted in Summerland, where writer and storyteller George Ryga lived and worked for many years. His commitment to meaningful, socially conscious art continues to resonate, and we honour that spirit as we curate contemporary programming for today’s audiences.

As a registered charitable society, the Ryga Festival Society is dedicated to creating inclusive, engaging, and community-centred celebrations of words, music, and theatre.
