The Saanich Peninsula Stroke Recovery Association is headquartered in Sidney, BC and offers speech therapy by a Registered Speech Pathologist and movement therapy led by a certified Kinesiologist. Both groups provide assistance to stroke survivors in their long journey back toward full thought, speech and movement. Although all stroke survivors are welcome, our primary area of activities include Saanich, Central Saanich, North Saanich and Sidney. We operate under the supervision of our volunteer Executive and Board of Directors with only the speech and movement specialists being compensated.
As a stroke occurs in Canada every 5 minutes (Canadian government statistics 2018), it is vital to survivors to receive the necessary help and guidance by these specialists. With our currently overtaxed health care systems, it becomes ever more important that charities, such as ours, continue to provide and expand our services to assist in their recovery.
