Our Mission
Our agency provides coordinated volunteer services that promote independent living and enhanced quality of life for people over the age of 19 living within the District of Saanich.
About SAANICH VOLUNTEER SERVICES SOCIETY (SVSS)
SVSS was formed in 1992, a nonprofit agency governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. We offer one-to-one direct volunteer services for those who need help to live independently. Our volunteers provide supported transportation, companionship, help with light gardening, home repairs, computer help, friendly visits, income tax return preparation and filing for low income groups, and food delivery services. We also provide referral services when our organization cannot help with a matter. Our agency is financially supported by individual donors, the District of Saanich, Vancouver Island Health Authority, Provincial Employees Community Service Fund, and other grants. All our services are provided by volunteers with help from a core group of staff who support the logistics and program development. SVSS brings compassion, understanding and a desire to make a difference to the well-being of the Saanich community by helping others through a dedication to volunteerism.
