St. Raphael’s is a charitable organization created to build and operate a palliative care home and day center that will offer free, high-quality care in one of the most populated areas of Montreal.
Once in operation, St. Raphael's will have 12 palliative care beds and a day centre, the first of its kind in Montreal. Our project is located at the crossroads of the boroughs of Outrement, Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (CDN-NDG) and Mount-Royal, an area that could see a 21% increase in the population aged 65 and older over the next ten years.
St. Raphael's mission is to offer exceptional palliative care and services in a warm and compassionate environment, free of charge, to people suffering from an incurable illness, so that they may live an end of life imbued with compassion, respect and humanity. To offer a beneficial break and support for loved ones and caregivers. It will welcome people from all walks of life, regardless of their social condition, ethnic origin or religious beliefs.
What's more, the day centre will service terminally ill persons going through a very difficult period while still living at home, offering them a multitude of care and service, music and art therapy, group discussions and activities. It will also offer services and a beneficial break to loved ones and caregivers.
St. Raphael's is at the halfway mark of its $10 million major fundraising campaign for the construction and the first two years of operation of the facility. We hope to begin construction in Summer 2017 and to begin operations in 2018.
