We are a feminist, anti-oppressive, decolonizing sexual violence support centre, operating on unceded Coast Salish Territories.
Salal Sexual Violence Support Centre is raising funds to ensure that survivors can access immediate, life-saving support services following the traumas of sexual assault. We serve survivors of sexualized violence with shared experiences of gendered oppression including cis and trans women and trans, non-binary, and Two-Spirit survivors.
Salal SVSC provides the following services:
- Individual Counselling and Support Groups
- 24-Hour Crisis & Information Line including Text and Chat Support on Salal Connect
- 24-Hour Hospital Accompaniment
- Court and Police Accompaniment
- Specialized Services by and For Indigenous Communities, including Family Members of Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirt
- Community-Developed Services for Trans, Non-Binary and Two-Spirit Survivors
- Victim Service Clinics and Crisis Counselling
- Advocacy and Educational Outreach
All of Salal's support services are free-of-charge for survivors. Despite being BC's largest sexual violence support centre and managing a caseload of more than 300 survivors at any given time, the waitlist to access free-of-charge counselling at Salal is over 2 years long.
