Samaritan Club of Calgary - Season of Giving

Imagine being a brand new mom who is experiencing hard times financially and who has little or nothing for her ‘days old’ infant when returning home from the hospital.

Imagine having exhausted your use of the local food banks and you have spent your last few dollars on groceries for tonight's family meal, wondering what you will do tomorrow.

Imagine being a low income disabled person with an old broken wheelchair needing  replacement  and knowing government assistance will not cover the full cost of a new one.

The Samaritan Club of Calgary has been hard at work in our 113th year raising funds to support Calgarians in need. This, our 4th annual Season of Giving is upon us and offers you an opportunity to provide assistance to those folks locally who suffer from food insecurity and/or an inability to support themselves and their families with aids to daily living.

Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for low income families with the additional demands of the season. We generally live a safe and bountiful life here in Calgary so we wish to step up our efforts at Christmas to offer assistance to our local community.

Here are some examples of how donations can help.

  • $55 provides a single layette for a new mom in need
  • $150 provides a voucher to cover medications for a person in need
  • $400 provides groceries for a low-income couple with 4 children
  • $1000 provides a scholarship for a graduate of the Louise Dean School for young pregnant or parenting teens
  • $2500 provides a wheelchair for a client with mobility challenges, on a cost share basis
  • $5000 provides program support and summer camper sponsorship to either Calgary Apraxia or ROARR, Robinson Outreach at Riverside Ranch for disabled or disadvantaged youth.

We recognize that you have options for your donation dollars but we hope you can help us continue to support Calgarians in need.
