Formerly a member of the Canadian Mental Health Association, one of the oldest community organizations in Canada, it was formerly known as ACSM - Filiale de Chaudière-Appalaches.
In 2016, after consultation with its members, the organization decided to disaffiliate from the Canadian Mental Health Association to become Santé mentale Québec - Chaudière-Appalaches.
