about

Our Mission

The Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra is dedicated to enriching the cultural life of our community through the presentation of musical performances of a very high calibre and the development of a strong and financially viable organization. Beyond the stage, the SPO also supports and promotes Canadian composers, artists, and talent through outreach programs and activities like the New Generation Composers Workshop, the Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra Women's Choir, and more.

About SCARBOROUGH PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA

The SPO is thrilled to offer seven live concerts for our 2023/2024 season, in addition to offering digital content on our YouTube page throughout the season.

During the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 Seasons, the SPO produced and released over 180 performance videos on our YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/SPOGreatMusic), totalling over 19 hours of content. The SPO also produced and released our new SPOGreatMusic Podcast Series, featuring 20 episodes and over 15 hours of content (https://www.anchor.fm/SPOGreatMusic).

Our 2023/2024 Season will begin on Saturday, September 30, 2023, with a live performance, "Fun and Fanciful". Full season details can be found here: https://www.spo.ca/season-line-up/.

Your kind donation, now more than ever, is really an investment to ensure we can continue our rich history.

Currently in our 44th Season, the SPO continues to delight audiences of all ages with its innovative and diverse music programming, extremely affordable and accessible concerts, and wonderful array of well-known guest performers and support of emerging artists. The orchestra has a long and interesting history, with a mandate to provide music of a very high standard to the community.

Under the direction of Music Director and Conductor, Mr. Ronald Royer, our talented and friendly musicians come from a variety of walks of life: some are professional players, some teach music and others have music as an important and meaningful hobby. All members share the love of music and performing it for others.

The SPO is run by a volunteer Board of Directors and appreciate the support of our many involved volunteers.

Without the generous financial assistance of sponsors and donors, the orchestra would not be able to strive for new musical heights and could cease to exist. We are extremely grateful to all those who contribute to the well-being and future of our orchestra and our community.

THANK YOU!
