SeaChange Marine Conservation Society is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year and we are marking the occasion by raising funds for our very own survey boat. Our restoration, conservation and educational work is based in the coastal zone of British Columbia but we have never had a boat to call our own. This fundraising campaign will allow us to purchase a landing craft/survey boat that will give us easy access to more inaccessible parts of the coast and allow us to more easily collect data in new sites as well as conduct monitoring of previous sites. SeaChange has successfully completed dozens of eelgrass transplants around the Salish Sea and long-term monitoring of those sites to check their progress, as well as to collect crucial data to further our understanding about eelgrass habitat, is a priority; however, funding for long-term monitoring can be difficult to access. Having our own boat will allow us to minimize monitoring costs and provide more flexibility for when that monitoring can take place. This will allow SeaChange to expand its impact and tackle the priorities of coastal communities in a timely fashion. Thank you for helping SeaChange to achieve its goal!
