SARSAV K9 is a committee of Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers (SARSAV) chaired by a SARSAV Director.

Under the direction of SARSAV this committee has established a working group that is comprised of members of SARSAV who are trained Ground SAR Responders according to the CSA standards for Ground SAR in Canada.  These dedicated professional SAR responders volunteer their time to not only respond to SAR events across Saskatchewan, they on top of their regular duties are training to be SARSAVK9 handlers with their dogs.  They are currently training to the RCMP National Standards for Civilian Canine SAR and when ready will go through a validation process to certify them to respond as K9 and handler to Search and Rescue Events in Saskatchewan.

SARSAV SAR responders have volunteered 15,000 hours in 2021 responding to 14 Search and Rescue taskings, training, admin, and community events.

This year our members have logged over 5800 hours Searching, 4000 Admin, 5000 training and over 1100 on Prevention and Community Events from January to October 2022 and responded to over 20 Search taskings.  As our responses increase the ability to provide trained Canines and handlers as a resources will help save lives. 

This working group is working hard to train and volunteer their time and expend their own funds to attend organized training events.

Currently their fundraising goals are to cover the cost of training (Instructor's Costs) for the upcoming year.   Thank you for supporting SARSAV and the SARSAV K9 working group as they train to validate dogs and handlers to the Standards approved by our Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
