Services Étoile Filante (SEF) - Conseil Migrant is an organization composed of migrants working for migrants. Since 1993, it has been dedicated to defending the rights of temporary foreign workers and immigrants in Canada, as well as providing education and training.

SEF - Conseil Migrant is a community organization created by and for migrants. Our mission is to empower migrants, improve our health and well-being, strengthen our communities, facilitate integration, promote both our cultures and Canadian culture, and amplify our voices.

In January and February 2020, after reports from China indicated that a pandemic was imminent, we shifted our focus to translating and disseminating information authorized by Canadian and provincial health authorities.

During this difficult period we built strong partnerships with researchers and experts from world-renowned institutions such as Harvard, ISPM (Switzerland), Karolinska Institute, Université de Montréal, among others.

Our work reaches over 10,000 people per month in Canada and beyond. Each year, we provide translation services, referrals to volunteer doctors and healthcare practitioners, and connections to other organizations, community groups, religious institutions, shelters, food banks, consulates, universities, and provincial and federal authorities in Canada.

As seen on our Facebook pages @SaluddelosTrabajadoresTemporales and @ConseilMigrant, we have built a strong network of alliances with renowned organizations, Cliniques Juridiques, Consulates, as well as the Mexican Ministries of Labor, Health, and Foreign Affairs. We also collaborate with local and federal legislators in Canada, Guatemala, and Mexico.

Additionally, we actively participate in research aimed at influencing public policy and improving the physical and mental health of temporary migrant workers.

Our dedicated volunteers and Board of Directors bring over 100 years of combined experience in immigration, migrant health, human rights, culture, and organizational management.
