Our Mission
At SHAID Tree Animal Shelter, we provide compassionate care, protection, and a second chance to animals in distress. Whether abandoned, homeless, or surrendered, every animal that comes through our doors is treated with dignity while we work to find them safe, loving, and permanent homes.
About SHAID Tree Animal Shelter
SHAID Tree Animal Shelter is a small, independent, non-profit located near Bridgewater on Nova Scotia’s South Shore. Since 1986, we have been a lifeline for animals with nowhere else to go—operating entirely through the generosity of donors, fundraisers, and our dedicated community.
We are proudly a no-kill shelter. This means there are no time limits on the animals in our care, each one stays with us until the right home is found.
Each year, we help hundreds of cats and dogs by providing:
• Safe shelter and daily care• Veterinary treatment and medical rehabilitation• Spay/neuter surgery• Vaccinations and parasite prevention• Disease testing (including FeLV/FIV for cats and tick-borne illness testing for dogs)
Beyond sheltering, we support our community by assisting pet owners in crisis, promoting responsible pet ownership, and working to reduce animal overpopulation through prevention-focused initiatives.
