Spring PDC 2023

For nearly 40 years, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan has been entertaining and bringing people together on the banks of our beautiful river. We recognize how our festival has become a point of pride in this community and synonymous with the summer season. The sight of the tents going up is a beacon that winter is over and that playful days lie ahead!

“Raising the Tent” marks the beginning of our festival season each year and brings our community together.

Under the tent, and with help from friends like you, we employ actors, sound technicians, set designers, lighting designers, costume designers, prop masters and stage managers. Our Emerging Artists Program ensures that promising young talent are mentored while receiving invaluable theatre experience and training right here at home.

We are reaching out for support to continue that tradition for years to come. It is no surprise to hear talk of inflation and rising costs, and our lovely theatre is not immune to these issues. Surviving the global pandemic depleted many of our reserves and our ‘return to the theatre’ season is experiencing greater costs than ever before. To ensure the longevity of the festival, we are launching a sustainability campaign with a goal of raising $25,000.

We are excited for the 2023 season on our Main Stage with two of Shakespeare’s most enduring and timeless pieces: As You Like It and Romeo + Juliet (presented by SaskTel). Subscriptions and tickets are available now.

We are grateful to you, our festival champions. Your loyalty and steadfast commitment to the performing arts in Saskatoon, and especially to Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan, allows us to continue season after season.
