Shalem Mental Health Network

about

About Shalem:

We are a faith and community-based mental health service agency with headquarters in Hamilton, Ontario. Shalem’s mission is to restore hope. We walk alongside those who are in pain, isolated, on the margins and face stigma by providing responsive and preventative mental health services and innovative community programming to individuals, families and communities across Ontario and Canada.

In 1963, we were founded to establish a psychiatric hospital after receiving approval from the Ontario Ministry of Health. However, these plans transitioned quickly to reflect the changing attitudes about mental health. We became an outpatient clinic, providing therapy to the community.

It is and has always been Shalem’s purpose to respond to community needs. Today, we offer therapy for individuals, families, couples and children as well as comprehensive community-based programs that support and empower vulnerable youth and families and platforms for communities to rebuild after conflict.
