1 in 5 Canadians will experience a mental illness in their lifetime. Not only are they affected, but those around them - families, friend, co-workers. Mental illness takes on many forms ranging from depression, anxiety, stress to suicidal tendencies and self-harm. With community support, Shalom Counselling Centre of Alberta is able to bring peace for relational and emotional issues faced by over 800 families in Central Alberta each year. People come to deal with stress, pressure, fears, anxiety, anger, depression, grief, addictions, sexual concerns, spiritual issues. To work on: communication, marriage and parenting concerns, problem solving, and conflict management; to prevent abuse, family violence, suicide and self-harm; to recover from separation, divorce, major losses and changes, and abuse. Shalom offers a place to be heard and helped with respect, dignity and compassion. We offer high quality, affordable counselling, showing concern for the whole person (considering physical, emotional, relational and spiritual factors). Services are offered on a sliding fee scale, making them affordable and accessible to all who call for help.
