The death toll in Morocco is rising, and many buildings have been completely flattened or are unsafe for people to stay in. There is uncertainty and panic, and people have no choice but to sleep in the open. Emergency shelter can provide a feeling of safety and a place to call home. Emergency shelter saves lives.

The death toll is expected to continue rising and search and rescue continues. Powerful aftershocks are hampering rescue efforts, and as winter approaches humanitarian need in the region is likely to increase.
