About Our Charity
Shifra Home is a maternity residence and resource centre for young pregnant women. Located in Burlington, Ontario, Shifra Home provides a safe environment that assists the resident in making informed decisions about parenting or adoption. Our programs are designed to support, shelter, nurture and care for young mothers, fathers and their babies. Our doors are open to residents at any time during their pregnancy and up to three months after the birth of their baby.
Our Mission
Shifra Homes’ mission is to provide a safe haven, and an empowering environment that promotes dignity and a sense of hope for young homeless pregnant women. We aim to provide support and resources, and to protect and nurture new life.
Our Vision
To see young pregnant women healthy, supported, safe and empowered, and equipped with the necessary life and relationship skills they need to build happy successful lives.
To see a decrease in the number of homeless pregnant teens and young women in the Halton region.
Our Values
We believe women have the right to personal dignity and the right to feel safe.
We believe these women have the right to personal autonomy in making decisions, and act to guide and support them in planning for the future.
We believe that creating a supportive environment for these women is essential.
