For 25 years, the Siminovitch Theatre Foundation has championed theatre artists across Canada. We are the only national platform working across disciplines, geographies, career stages, and languages.
Our programs help groundbreaking artists further their craft through networking, skill-building, mentorship, profile-building, and financial support. We encourage artists to take creative risks and develop transformative works that expand the possibilities of theatre.
The Siminovitch Prize: Canada’s most valuable theatre award provides $100,000 to a peer-selected Laureate and $25,000 to their chosen Protégé, with three additional finalists receiving $10,000 each.
Impact: Since 2001, $2.6 million has been invested in over 125 artists who have become influential figures in their communities and nationwide. Forty-four have founded their own theatre companies, 58 have served as artistic directors, 20 have earned a total of 27 Governor General’s Awards, and eight have been appointed to the prestigious Order of Canada.
