Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) is a Canadian registered charity and unique post-secondary education centre. Established in 1993, SNP has built a strong foundation and reputation through commitment to community and culture; recovery; revitalization; and restoration of Hodinohsó:ni knowledge and languages; and partnerships. SNP was created in and by a community of people, with a history that predates the formation of the United States of America or Canada, with a wealth of Indigenous knowledge and a sustainable worldview that is foundational to SNP. We are mandated by Canada’s most populous First Nation – Six Nations of the Grand River – to design, develop, and provide post-secondary education, training, and lifelong learning in support of the development of self-sufficient, educated, employable Six Nations people with a commitment to Six Nations culture and community. Our vision is to achieve international distinction for excellence in Indigenous education, Indigenous language revitalization and continuance of Indigenous knowledge. As an inclusive facility, students of all nationalities are welcomed.
Our mission is to positively influence the well-being of Ogwehoweh and other learners and all those who share the land through the preservation, revitalization, creation and application of knowledge specific to Ogwehoweh languages and culture through respectful interaction and information sharing with other knowledge systems.
We do this by:
- Providing learning opportunities in a culturally safe environment
- Revitalizing Hodinohso:ni culture, teachings and language
- Providing accessible pathways for our people to obtain an education
- Fostering an environment for Reconciliation that values Indigenous ways of knowing and being and all world views
SNP has thirty years of experience delivering formal and informal Indigenous education with incredible success! We offer formal educational opportunities which include programming in university, skilled trades, and college as well as programming delivered through our grade 9-14 early college model secondary school - SNP STEAM Academy. We also offer informal learning opportunities through various workshops and events. Your donation will help support continued success for our learners and the broader community as it will enable us to continue to develop and deliver culturally grounded, responsive educational opportunities to all interested learners as we strive toward the realization of our long-standing strategic objectives.
