about

Our Mission

The Société de conservation du corridor naturel de la rivière au Saumon (SCCNRS)has as its mission the protection and conservation in perpetuity of the environmental heritage of natural areas of great ecological value in the rivière au Saumon watershed. The 290 km2 territory is part of the Appalachian mountain range, and constitutes a natural extension of the Mount Orford Provincial Park in the Eastern Townships of Quebec.

About SOCIETE DE CONSERVATION DU CORRIDOR NATUREL DE LA RIVIERE AU SAUMON (SCCNRS)

Selected because of exceptional geo-physical characteristics, large tracts of unfragmented forest and significant amount of biodiversity, the rivière au Saumon watershed is a privileged eco-region for the creation of a protected natural corridor.

Using an individual voluntary conservation approach, based on a scientific methodology, the SCCNRS provides a conservation solution that is flexible enough to respond to the needs of an individual landowner’s use of their property while meeting the SCCNRS’s conservation objectives for target species and habitats. This is acheived by identifying the areas of greatest ecological value on each property and assuring their protection using conservation tools adapted to the personal objectives of individual landowners.
