Organized in 1991, the Georgeville Historical Society (GHS) is dedicated to documenting the history of the village of Georgeville and it's surrounding area.
Located on the eastern shore of Lake Memphremagog, Georgeville is one of the oldest communities on the lake. Originally founded as 'Copp's Ferry' in 1797, the village evolved as an eastern terminus for a ferry that traversed the lake. The community assumed the name of Georgeville in the 1820s when it secured a federal government postal designation.
The GHS makes its home in the Georgeville United Church, where we host meetings, undertake research projects and store our archives and artifacts. Members are welcome!
The GHS undertakes activities such as maintaining the Bigelow pioneer garden, participating in the annual Canada Day parade, walking tours, excursions, and special gatherings.
The GHS welcomes you to it's website and extends a warm invitation to become a member of our small, but active organization.
