Our Mission
The mission of the Société Promotion Grand-Pré is to promote Grand-Pré on a national and international scale as the symbolic and authentic site of the Deportations of the Acadian people.
About SOCIETE PROMOTION GRAND-PRE
The Société Promotion Grand-Pré was founded in 1997 by the Société Nationale de l'Acadie, the Fédération acadienne de la Nouvelle-Écosse and the Province of Nova-Scotia, as a non profit organisation that shares the management of Grand-Pré National Historic Site with the Parks Canada Agency. This agreement garantees the presence of the Acadian people in this their place of memory. Working in this privileged partnership with Parks Canada, the Société has contributed to numerous projects, including the construction of the Visitor Interpretation Centre, the creation and production of the gigantic mural at the Centre entitled "Réveil", the Deportation Sculpture, and the "Three Cultures" sculpture from the Elm Tree at Horton Landing that came down in a storm in November 2010. The Société offered unconditional support for the Landscape of Grand-Pré to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site on June 30th 2012.
