Sidney Museum is dedicated to sharing the history and lives of the people of the Saanich Peninsula through artifacts, cultural items, photos and text. Housed in an area of five thousand square feet, the museum attracts approximately fifteen thousand visitors each year, including school tours. The Museum also hosts five special exhibits each year featuring local artists, guilds and collectors. In addition, the Museum has an extensive archival collection housed in a different location.
The Museum works closely with local schools and daycare centres, and is building a relationship with the four local First Nations communities. Local merchants and businesses participate in certain exhibits by displaying items associated with our temporary exhibits, and we work closely with other community attractions and venues. The purpose of the museum is to educate our visitors to the culture and history of the Saanich Peninsula and other topics of interest to them.
