Established in 2002, the Somali Canadian Society of Calgary is a registered charitable organization that focuses on helping members of the Black community in post settlement services, integration, education, health, housing, psychological, cultural, and socio-economic needs  in Calgary and surrounding areas through programs, services and advocacy work.

Over the years we have been able to identify the various challenges and obstacles newcomers face and as a result broaden the services available to this community. We have also placed special attention in combating the hardships that hinder access to services like language barriers, and lack of education. The association has also created several programs with a special focus on the vulnerable sector such as women, children and seniors. Through specialized programs we have been able to address the needs of our community through current and future initiatives as well as collaborative partnerships with local non-profit and community groups
