The Souris Show Hall was built in 1891 and ever since has hosted movies and performances that have delighted local audiences.
The Souris Show Hall building is now completely owned by the non-profit charity The Souris Show Hall Foundation, with the mission to entertain, educate, and enrich the lives of the residents of Souris and surrounding communities. Currently, we are a volunteer-operated organization working with an historic building in great need of repair. To that end, our primary fundraising goals are:
1. To hire a Theatre Manager to oversee the operations and develop and deliver quality ongoing programming.
2. To contribute to the renovation, restoration, and improvement of the building. We have been fortunate to have had the necessary upgrades to the Show Hall's foundation and insulation supported through Heritage Canada, ACOA, and Rural Regional Development. Our next goal is a new roof, new siding, and the eventual addition of a larger and more accessible lobby space.
