South Essex Community Council (SECC)

about

South Essex Community Council (SECC) exists because no one should have to face life’s challenges alone.

Every day, people across South Essex walk through our doors — or connect with us in their homes, schools, and neighbourhoods — carrying real, complex challenges. A senior who wants to stay independent but can’t cook or drive anymore. A child who needs a safe place to belong after school. A newcomer trying to navigate a new country. A job seeker looking for stability. A family choosing between groceries and rent.

SECC is here for those moments.

We are a non-profit community services organization serving South Essex, Ontario, and our work spans five interconnected areas: Community Home Support Services, Language & Settlement Services, Children & Youth Services, Job Seeking and Employment Services, and Community Information & Income Support Services.

But SECC is more than a list of programs.

We are meals that arrive when isolation sets in, safe spaces where children are seen and supported, guidance when systems feel overwhelming, and pathways to work, belonging, and independence. Our services are designed to meet people where they are — and walk with them toward stability, dignity, and opportunity.

The impact of SECC ripples outward. When a senior remains healthy and connected, families feel relief. When a child is supported, school outcomes improve. When someone finds employment or secures income support, the entire community grows stronger.

That is what it means to help people — and improve lives.

How You Can Help

Every dollar you give stays in the community.

Every contribution — no matter the size — creates real, measurable impact.

Here’s what your generosity can do:

  • $8 provides a hot, nutritionally balanced meal for a senior

  • $10 supplies healthy snacks for 5 children in our after-school program

  • $20 supports one day of supervised senior programming, including meals and snacks

  • $40 delivers a full week of hot meals for a senior

  • $50 provides groceries for one week for an individual in need

  • $100 funds a week of nutritious snacks for 25 children

  • $200 supports supervised day programming for 10 seniors, including meals

  • $250 provides two weeks of groceries for a family of four

  • $500 delivers multi-program impact — senior meals and programming, children’s nutrition support, and weeks of food security for those who need it most

When you support SECC, you’re not just funding a service —you’re strengthening families, supporting independence, and building a healthier, more compassionate community.

Thank You
