Vision Statement

The role of South Shore Health & Wellness Inc. is to promote, support and advocate for continued health care services for the residents of the South Shore area of Prince Edward Island. Central to this role is the establishment of a physician-lead, collaborative practice, primary health care facility in Crapaud, Prince Edward Island.

Although the South Shore Health & Wellness Medical Clinic is physically located in Crapaud, its primary purpose is to restore medical services to the former patients of Dr. Visser and recognize the 60-year history of the presence of a medical doctor in the area.

The clinic's catchment are includes Albany, Augustine Cove, Argyle Shore, Borden-Carleton, Bedeque, Bonshaw, Breadalbane, Crapaud, Canoe Cove, DeSable, Hampton, Kelly's Cross, Tryon, Victoria, Westmoreland and points in between. This catchment area has a population of 8,00 residents, approximately 2,800 of whom do not have a family doctor.

In the attainment of the above, South Shore Health & Wellness Inc. will:

- Engage government and its agencies to secure collaborative health care services in Crapaud provided by physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners and diabetes educators as well as nutritional, mental health and other health care services as needed.

- Aid in the recruitment and retention of qualified individuals to provide primary health care services in Crapaud.

- Provide medical equipment, supplies and lease space, when necessary, for health care practitioners to provide primary care in Crapaud.

- Recruit volunteers to assist in carrying out the activities of South Shore Health & Wellness Inc.

- Fundraise as necessary to achieve the objectives of South Shore Health & Wellness Inc.

As a registered Canadian charity, the objects and purposes of South Shore Health & Wellness Inc. are:

1. To promote public health in the South Shore area of Prince Edward Island by securing and maintaining a space and providing equipment for the operation of a primary health care facility.

2. To promote health by providing health and wellness workshops.

3. To enter into any arrangements with any authorities, public or academic or otherwise, that may seem conductive to the organization's objects or any of them and obtain from any such authority any rights, privileges, and concessions which the organization may think it desirable to obtain and carry out, exercise and comply with any such arrangements, rights, privileges and concessions.

4. To buy, sell, manage, improve, lease, mortgage or otherwise deal in the real estate and personal properties of all kinds whatsoever.

5. To receive, acquire, accept, solicit by purchase, lease, contract, donation, legacy, gift, grant, bequest or otherwise, any kind of real or personal property; and to enter into and carry out agreements, contracts and undertakings incidental hereto.

6. For the further attainment of the above objects, to hold, manage, sell or convert any of the real or personal property from time to time owned by the organization and to invest and reinvest any principal in such manner as may from time to time be determined.

7. For the further attainment of the above objects, to exercise all voting rights and to authorize and direct the execution and delivery of proxies in connection with any shares or obligations in amy company or corporation owned by the Organization.

8. To accept funds, gifts, donations, legacies, and similar funds or properties for the promotion of these objectives.

9. To do all such things as are ancillary or incidental to the attainment of the above purposes.
