South Shore Nature Centre

Help Us Bring the South Shore Nature Centre to Life

Prince Edward County’s South Shore is one of the last undeveloped shorelines on Lake Ontario, a place where rare biodiversity, local history, and community spirit come together. Whether you’ve explored its trails, joined an South Shore Joint Initiative event, or are discovering this remarkable landscape for the first time, you’re part of a growing community that cares about protecting it.

South Shore Joint Initiative is creating the South Shore Nature Centre, opening in Fall 2027. Located beside the heritage-designated Hudgin Log House, this will be Prince Edward County's first outdoor environmental education and community hub. It will be a home for free and low-cost programs like Wild Thing, Watercolour Walks, Monarch Day, South Shore Footpath guided walks, school field trips, youth environmental programs, guided hikes, and hands-on biodiversity activities.

Thanks to early momentum, 2/3rd’s of start-up funding for South Shore Nature Centre is secured! Since August, support from generous donors, the Parrott Foundation, TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, and municipal partners has brought us closer to our goal.

Your donation will support safe, accessible site facilities, educational materials, outreach, and trail maintenance - ensuring that thousands of people can learn, explore, and connect with nature each year.

By giving today, you’re helping protect the South Shore and inspiring future conservation champions. Together, we can bring the South Shore Nature Centre to life. Learn more here.
