The Southern Alberta Land Trust Society (SALTS) is a rancher-led, grassroots organization, connected to land and community. Founded in 1998, SALTS works with landowners to protect Alberta’s iconic and irreplaceable open landscapes.
Supporting SALTS ensures our most valuable landscapes continue to provide clean water, food, wildlife habitat, tourism, and outdoor recreation for generations to come.
IMPACT (So Far)
- Over 70,000 acres (280 km2) of grasslands, watersheds and habitat conserved
- 99% of conserved lands actively used for grazing/beef production
- Over $100 Million in conservation easement transactions
- $12 Million endowment in place to steward existing conservation easements
- Over $500,000 invested in grassland and watershed health projects
