St. Crispin's Day Care Centre was formed in 1977 as a non-profit community based centre, achieving charitable status in 1999. It is operated by a group of Early Childhood Educators and administered by a voluntary Board of Directors.

The age range that we service is 18 months to 12 years of age.

In 2012, the facility we started in was no longer available to continue our business in.  We were fortunate enough to find a new location that welcomed us with open arms. 

Our Philosophy

The first years of a child's life are most important. It is our goal at St. Crispin`s Day Care to provide an environment that will foster physical, emotional, cognitive and social growth through play and planned experiences. St. Crispin's Day Care Centre offers a learning program that is consistent with the Ministry of Education policies, pedagogy and curriculum. St. Crispin's Day Care uses a theme based approach within the centre. While we follow our daily curriculum model, if children express an interest in another area, our staff will use the cue from the child take their learning where they want to go. Children make their own choice about materials and activities throughout the program. As they become involved with their choices and plans, children explore, ask and answer questions, solve problems and interact with their peers, program staff,volunteers, placement students and other adults.Children are curious, capable, competent and rich in potential St. Crispin's recognizes that each child is a unique individual that brings their own abilities to the program. Here they are encouraged to try new things, explore new ideas. By doing this, children will develop at their own pace.We will provide a program that will foster their curiosity and give them opportunity to explore their interests. It is our belief that every child needs to be given the opportunity to be in a safe and caring environment where they can feel at home. We strive to enrich children to grow and develop to maximize their potential.By integrating children into our program in a way that best suits them. Every child develops at their own level.

Our goals for children, consistent with the Ministry of Education pedagogy, include the following:

- Every child has a sense of belonging when he or she is connected to others and contributes to their world

- Every child is developing a sense of self, health, and well-being.- Every child is an active and engaged learner who explores the world with body, mind, and senses.

- Every child is a capable communicator who expresses himself or herself in many ways. 

In order to achieve these goals, St. Crispin's Staff work as a team to foster learning and support children's interests. St. Crispin's will offer a variety of activities throughout the day that will encourage learning through language and literacy, physical play (outdoor play), constructive play, fine motor activities, music, craft activities, sensory activities, dramatic play, nature and science as well as math activities.
