Creating a Home Away From Home

This campaign was created to enhance St. Patrick’s Mercy Home’s ability to meet the important needs of our residents. In recent years, the priority has been to provide funding to improve the furniture and room amenities that affect residents’ daily living and comfort. We are proud to have provided furniture and fixtures to modernize the main lobby, the Killarney Tea Room, 3rd Floor Dementia Lounge, Padre Lounge, Recreation Therapy kitchen and common area, 3rd Floor Family Suite, Palliative Care rooms , Closet Coverings for each room, Draperies, and Smart TV’s for all common areas. We believe these purchases have improved living conditions for our residents and their families. In addition, these additions have improved working conditions for our staff. One of our main goals is to enhance the living and working conditions at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home. Whether it is through purchases such as these, or through past contributions, we will continue on the journey to continually improve our Home. We hope everyone will avail of the modernizations and offer suggestions on other ways we can strive to improve our home here at St. Pat’s. The Smart TV’s have been a “hit” with our residents. Through You Tube they can access their favourite music and listen to it at their convenience. In addition, it has been great for providing activities for the residents. They have been playing interactive games such as “Wheel of Fortune” and Trivia, as well as watching movies of their choice. The Killarney Tea Room has been utilized by residents and their families for private gatherings, birthday celebrations, or as a location to have lunch together. We have also used the area for our “Fish and Chips” dinners provided by the Knights of Columbus. Presently we are partnering with St. Patrick’s Mercy Home to purchase chairs for resident rooms. These chairs will provide comfort for visiting family members when they visit their loved ones. In addition, we are in the process of replacing the tables and chairs in our lounge/eating areas on all 4 floors with adjustable tables and chairs that meet our residents needs.
