About CORE
The CORE Refugee Project was formed in October 2015 as a response to the Syrian refugee crisis. CORE began as a partnership between St. Paul’s and Bethel Stone United Churches and grew to include representation from Glen Morris, Burford, Sydenham-Heritage, and St. George United Churches, Paris Baptist and Sacred Heart Churches, the Kiwanis Club of Paris-Brant, The GO Project, and the Friends of the Library, as well as many other members of the local community.
CORE has completed its first year-long sponsorship of two families from Syria, who have moved on as successful members of Canadian society, and is now in the early stages of applying for a new sponsorship which would begin in 2018.
CORE Refugee Project operates under the charitable auspices of St. Paul's United Church, but is separately managed by a committee made up of individuals and representatives from multiple groups both secular and religious.
