The Health Information System (HIS) is essential to high quality patient care, enabling hospitals to capture, store, manage and transmit critical health information. Launched at Stevenson Memorial Hospital on Dec. 1, 2018, this shared electronic patient record system means safer, faster, and higher quality care.

Perhaps the most significant benefit of a new HIS is improved patient safety. Your support of this new technology will mean safer care for patients through features like eMAR (electronic medication administration records) to automate the medication delivery process, making it safer and more controlled.

To obtain this new technology, Stevenson entered into a ground-breaking partnership with Southlake Regional Health Centre and Markham Stouffville Hospital. This partnership allows for the sharing of patient records and treatment plans between all three institutions. 

This partnership is the first of its kind in Ontario.

The total cost to implement HIS at Stevenson is $5 Million.
