Stitch It Forward Society of Lethbridge engages volunteers to knit, sew, crochet and quilt items needed in Alberta.  We also educate youth in the skills with hopes of continuing these crafting skills.  We recycle items headed to the landfill and transform them into usable items.  We support those with health concerns, feeling of isolation, low income, physical and mental issues, and seniors.   We currently have 180 active volunteers, are operated by a board of directors and have no permanent staff. 

Our future goals including branching this organization out across Canada. Also, opening a volunteer center where people can come to work on projects and we can teach youth the skills.

We are a not for profit, charitable organization that was created in 2019 when my husband had a double bypass surgery after a massive heart attack.  While in hospital, he was given a heart shaped pillow to hold against his chest for support.  The nurses told me that volunteers make them but they never have enough.  This lead to myself and my daughter sewing heart shaped pillows for the Calgary, AB Foothills Hospital which then lead to more people wanting to help and more organizations needing help and the creation of Stitch It Forward Society of Lethbridge.
