Update May 13: We got the results back from the lab and it turns out the mass was cancerous, so we are thankful his biopsy ended up being a lumpectomy and he won’t need to go under again. Per the vet, it was a tumor called fibrosarcoma. Based on the mitotic index of 0, it's considered a low grade fibrosarcoma and the risk of recurrence is considered low at this point. Sammy is recovering well and we are grateful for everyone who supported his care! The procedure ended up costing $1275 (invoice visible below), so we’ve updated our goal.

Update May 6: Sammy went in for his biopsy today and the tissue proved difficult to get a sample from, so our vet elected to remove the entire mass to send to the lab for testing. We should have results in 3-5 days to see if any further treatment is needed. He is home and recovering well, albeit rocking a funny haircut. 

Our sweet Sammy boy needs your help! Sammy is our forever foster and he has recently had a lump develop on his hip. Unfortunately, cytology was inconclusive and we are going to need to have a biopsy done. 

Our vet has quoted us about $900+HST for anesthesia, biopsy and submission to the lab. As part of forever foster program, we are committed to covering all of Sammy’s vetting but this was an unexpected expense and we could really use some support to cover this procedure.
