The Sudbury Action Centre for Youth has been selected by the City of Greater Sudbury as the location for an overnight warming centre for youth ages 16-24.
The Northern Emergency Shelter for Transitional Aged Youth Warming Centre (NEST Youth Warming Centre), is the only space in the City of Greater Sudbury that is a designated overnight safe space for youth ages 16-24.
SACY's NEST Youth Warming Centre will be open from 10pm until 8am every night beginning December 1st 2020 and ending April 31 2021.
Since Foyer Notre Dame closed it's doors in April 2020, this will be the first time that our City has a designated space for homeless and at risk youth that is separate from the adult homeless population.
Though we have been providing homeless youth services during the daytime for more than 20 years, this will be the first time that SACY will be providing overnight warming centre and shelter beds to youth.
We are asking for your support in ensuring that the youth in our community are provided with a safe space to sleep that is welcoming, comfortable, and supportive.
