Our mission is to reach seniors who are isolated because of age, disability, poverty and/or lack of community supports.
About Sunshine Centres for Seniors
Sunshine Centres for Seniors is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization, founded in 1970. Active seniors as well as seniors with physical limitations benefit from being connected to the supportive community at Sunshine Centres.
We offer year-round recreation, socialization and health promotion programs to seniors from across Toronto at 5 locations. We operate at our Yonge and Bloor centre from October to April, and on Ward's Island from May to September and at three Toronto Community Housing buildings in St. Jamestown all year long. Our Ward's Island program is called Camp Sunshine and it is a unique program offering a day outing to seniors in a parkland setting. About 1,500 seniors each year from across Toronto attend this one-of-a-kind program.
