About SUNSHINE COAST MUSEUM & ARCHIVES
We are a regional museum focusing on the Lower Sunshine Coast – from Egmont through Pender Harbour, Halfmoon Bay, Sechelt, Roberts Creek, Gibsons to Port Mellon. Our permanent exhibits center on maritime and pioneer heritage, plus special collections like Beachcomber memorabilia and butterflies. Our temporary exhibits have showcased the diverse ethnic and occupational groups that have settled and contributed their heritage and skills to this unique and beautiful. Most recently, the Squamish First Nation worked with us to create a traveling exhibit of artifacts celebrating the heritage of its people.
We are constantly seeking ways to enhance the public’s experience of its heritage. For instance, visitors can take a walking tour of Gibsons and access heritage information by cell phone. Our Museum school brings children into the museum to explore and learn.
