Read to Baby

“Reading to your little one is just like putting gold coins in the bank. It will pay you back tenfold.” Rosemary Wells, Children’s Author.

Give a local family the gift of early literacy and help nurture the joy of reading. Each year, Surrey Libraries create Read to Baby kits for families who need them the most. Kits are delivered to families through visits with public health nurses, ensuring all families have access to early learning kits. Click here to learn more.

Each kit includes a baby board book, a music CD, and a caregiver ‘Getting Started Guide’. In the last 4 years alone, over 5,000 kits have been delivered to families.

Your gift will ensure a local family will receive a Read to Baby kit to begin the journey of early literacy with their infant.

Here’s what local health nurses are saying about the Read to Baby kits!

“They promote attachment and parent-child interaction, especially in this age of cell phones.”

“They are great for new Canadian families with babies as they like to practice their English with the books.”

“The clients love them! They’re always happy to receive the kits and appreciate the Library connection.”
