TakingITGlobal is working to respond to school closures across the country. We know these closures will disproportionately affect students in remote communities. Our team has been working from home since March 16, 2020 to adapt our programming to help students continue their learning from home wherever possible, and provide income for Indigenous content providers. While many homes don't have reliable Internet connectivity, we have received numerous requests to offer support at a time where students have limited options to support their learning.
We have launched the following initiatives:
1. Connected North@Home: students across the country are being connected live to museums, zoos, artists, storytellers to offer unique learning experiences while students are at home.
2. Create to Learn@Home: This new initiative is hiring First Nations, Métis, and Inuit artists and media makers to develop instructional videos on a variety of software tools and creative processes.
3. Code to Learn@Home: In partnership with LCSI, Cisco Canada, Fair Chance Learning, and with support from the Government of Canada, we're offering coding and computational thinking learning experiences for students of all ages.
