Tatamagouche Regional Academy is being built to replace the existing Tatamagouche Elementary and North Colchester High School. The residents in this area, support this growth and are excited for our area to prosper. We have a proud history of graduating competent young men and women from our local school. Many of these graduates have gone on to experience great personal success while contributing to the world at large.
However, the time has come for change and with this change comes opportunity to provide current and future students, as well as our community, with a facility that will be top notch, second to none. A new and exciting addition will be a Skilled Trades Centre, one of four in the province, which will offer construction and automotive trade learning opportunities for our youth. The new school will be built to a minimum 'silver' Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), helping to provide an environmentally friendly learning space. The provincial government will provide funding for the building of this new school as well as the basic outfitting of the facility. Basic will not give our students the extras needed to enhance their learning experiences – this is where you can make a difference.
An Enhancement Fundraising Committee was established in late 2014 to determine what enhancements the community felt needed to be added in order to maximize all learning opportunities. Enhancements include any additional items to the complex not covered by the provincial government. Once enhancements were determined, a price tag was then calculated for the list. The enhancements decided upon by our community included a significantly expanded cafeteria which will allow the space to be used as a multi-purpose classroom/auditorium, now called a cafetorium. The list also includes, a score clock and glass backboards for the gym and basic lighting and sound for the drama room.
Our financial goal is $500,000. It is important to note that this is a one-time fundraising appeal. Once the school is built it will be completely funded by the Department of Education. However, we now need your help to reach the goal of $500,000 so that students, for decades to come, can be assured that they will have all the advantages they so richly deserve to help prepare them for their future.
All donations of $20 or more will automatically be issued a charitable tax receipt, with donations under $20 receipted upon request. Donations can be made as an individual or as a family or group, and gifts over $1,000 will receive permanent recognition. Should you wish to make a larger gift, the following recognition levels will be offered:
Friend $100 - $999
Volunteer $1,000 - $2,499
Educator $2,500 - $4,999
Mentor $5,000 - $9,999
Academic $10,000 - $24,999
Scholar $25,000 +
