Team Canada Healing Hands has been working closely with our Haitian Partners since Saturday August 14^th when the 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit southwestern Haiti’s Tiburon Peninsula. 

We have heard from our Haitian Partners in Les Cayes, Ile-à-Vache, Jacmel, Fond-des-Blancs, Mirebalais and Port-au-Prince. All are reporting being safe. Our first response has been to activate our peer liaison for spinal cord injuries who is on the ground assessing spinal cord injury needs. Healing Hands for Haiti, one of our rehabilitation partners in Port-au-Prince, is prepared to help with the rehabilitation needs of those injured.

We have set up a system to gather funds that will be used to directly support our Haitian partners for both medical supplies and rehabilitation needs of those who are severely injured. We will continue, as we have been doing for over 20 years in Haiti, to deliver rehabilitation services and support to patients and providers for those effected by the earthquake.
