“Fully Equipped” is a kitchen essentials program designed to address the needs of our clients who, after fleeing domestic violence or human trafficking, have moved into low income housing with completely empty kitchens. Your gift will provide key kitchen utensils, including: pots & pans, can openers, cutting boards, kettles, and crockpots, as well as the dishes to serve them on and the sponge and soap to clean up afterwards. Fully equipping them with the tools they need to cook healthy meals, learn new recipes and techniques, and work together in the kitchen, will create opportunities for empowerment, skill building, motivation, and connection. All kitchen supplies are brand new, long-lasting quality, and delivered directly to our clients at no cost to them. The program addresses barriers such as the rising cost of goods and the lack of access to transportation, which contribute to the cycles of poverty, isolation, and self-doubt that our clients experience. For abuse survivors who are starting from scratch—and their children, who have witnessed or experienced violence in the home—a fully equipped kitchen represents a transformative opportunity to move forward with safety and confidence.
