Sikorsky Horse Conservation

This Sikorsky Horse arrived at The Hangar Flight Museum in 1990 from Buffalo Airways. It was operated by Associated Airways in Canada's north. The unique design of the Horse marked the dawn of a new era for a single-main-rotor lifting helicopter. Here was a helicopter that was reliable, versatile and adaptable to diverse requirements. The aircraft was used for passenger, air-mail or cargo transport, air rescue and military utility service.

At this time, maintenance of this helicopter will include a new fresh coat of paint. We are in the process of expanding the Museum through a feasibility study, followed by a new bigger, better, permanent building which will help us protect our artifacts from the outdoor elements. In the meantime, completing maintenance on our outdoor aircraft will help keep these aircraft preserved.
