About Our Charity
Dr. Anne Burrows, one of the Foundation’s five co-founders, was a noted educator, journalist, broadcaster and music teacher. She served on the University of Alberta Senate and was awarded the Province of Alberta’s Achievement Award for Excellence in Music as well as an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta. Dr. Burrows was an inductee into the Edmonton Cultural Hall of Fame and the Order of Canada. After devoting a lifetime of encouragement and support for young musicians, Dr. Burrows, who passed away in 2007, continues to inspire the Anne Burrows Music Foundation to provide scholarship awards to students from the Greater Edmonton Area who are pursuing musical excellence in their post-secondary education.
